  MAIN BROADCASTERS HALL OF FAME
John Nutting will long be remembered as the presenter of the very popular ABC country music program- Saturday Night Country.

In the late 1980's and early 19902 with criticism that the ABC was being to focused on the cities it was decided that more programs should originate from rural areas. John was the manager and morning presenter in Townsville and made the suggestion of a two hour country music program that could be broadcast in the late Saturday night timeslot.

In 1993 the program was first aired and its popularity soon saw the time increased to 4 hours- 10 pm to 2 am. As well as being broadcast over the Australia wide ABC network it was also heard internationally on Radio National and also broadcast over the internet.

John was very innovative in getting the program to be broadcast live over the internet as well as using podcasting and message boards.

On the 27th of January 2010 John hosted his final broadcast of the program and has now retired from broadcasting. Over the 27 years he hosted the program he has been involved in the career launch and development of many of Australia's top entertainers- Lee Kernaghan, Beccy Cole, Gina Jeffreys, Greame Connors, Anne Kirkpatrick, Troy Cassar-Daley and many other who were signed to the ABC Music record label.
